Here at Jojoba Yoga we are passionate about Yoga and the positive effect it can have on your life. We specialise in Chakra Yoga, a unique method of teaching based on traditional Hatha Yoga but with a focus on the 7 main energy centres of the body (the Chakras) to release vital energy and calm the mind, improving health, fitness and wellbeing.

 

The Chakra Yoga method is unique to Jojoba Yoga and has been created by Jo over her 25 years of practitioner experience, teaching experience, sport yoga and successful holistic therapy, reiki and massage practice. Chakra Yoga brings together all aspects of yoga, breath, posture, meditation, colour and sound therapy to provide a full and exciting way to deepen your yoga practice and experience the vast range of yoga healing techniques.

 

The Workshops & Courses are fun & informal combining traditional & modern yoga, functional sport yoga, energetic flows & meditation and mindfulness techniques to get you fit & zen in one go! This ensures you get some strength work, a good stretch out and some deep relaxation, along with a strong focus on breath to cleanse, heal & energise.

 

Through our unique Chakra Yoga Workshops and Courses, we hope to develop your understanding and practice of yoga in a fun way, providing space to connect with the body in a safe, nurturing environment, assisting health, fitness, recovery and healing.

Meet Jo

 

Jo Cowper –  Yoga Instructor / Founder Jojoba Yoga

 

Jo’s mum first brought her to her first yoga class in her teens and she describes it as ‘coming home’. She went on to study Movement & Dance at university and became a qualified teacher in Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Kids Yogabugs, Yoga Therapy and Sport Yoga and is continually updating her knowledge to inform her practice & classes. She has been practising yoga for over 25 years and has been teaching & passing on her love of Yoga since 2010.

Jo has a background in therapeutic massage and sport, including working on the London 2012 Olympics, she is interested in the healing power of yoga. Having used yoga to recover from past injury and from pregnancy (twice!) Jo trained in Yoga for Sport and worked with high level athletes, offering Sport Yoga sessions to assist injury prevention and recovery.

All Jo’s yoga classes are fun & informal, encouraging students to challenge themselves in a safe & effective way. Jo is also keen to introduce all ages to yoga, creating classes for kids, parents & grandparents to enjoy together based on the fun YogaBugs teaching method used in the Waybuloo TV series.

Jo promotes the use of Yoga for helping Anxiety & Body Image Disorders. She has contributed to articles in the Australian Yoga Journal & the book ‘Reflections on Body Dysmorphic Disorder’ published by the Body Dysmorphic Disorder Foundation and will be featured in Kindred Spirit and Yoga Magazine Spring/ Summer 2019. Jo is the creator of the Jojoba Yoga Chakra Yoga method, offering Workshops & Courses to take students through yoga techniques for increased energy and healing, and she has recently published her 8 Chakra Yoga books which are available to purchase in the online shop and on Amazon, or available as eBooks to download HERE
